As a free service, PartySmart provides outreach booths with educational literature about
drugs, sex & sexually transmitted infections, and other health and safety issues; free food, water,
earplugs, condoms, and other supplies for personal health needs; and young volunteer peer
counselors/educators to help prevent health & safety problems at raves, nightclubs, and other
youth-oriented cultural and social events throughout Northern New Mexico. PartySmart’s peer counselors
employ popular education and harm reduction strategies, respecting the ability of individuals to make
informed, responsible choices for themselves and to help their peers do the same. They are trained in this
by our more experienced volunteers, with the help of professionals from collaborating agencies. PartySmart
educates promoters and venue managers about their responsibility to provide a healthy, safe, and secure
environment, by providing published guidelines and feedback about safety issues at their events. PartySmart
publishes a newsletter highlighting the contributions of young people to creating a healthy rave community.
The editorial team includes PartySmart volunteers of all ages, who encourage their peers to contribute news,
editorial, and creative material.
