Purpose

  • To discuss drug use with peers in a safe environment.
  • To empower youth to make their own decisions about drug use.

  • Getting information on drugs.
  • Weighing the information.
  • Using the information to help self and others.

Assumptions

  • Each person is an expert on their own life, so everyone in the group is a knowledge equal.
  • All people will use drugs (including over the counter, prescription, alcohol, tobacco, caffeine, illegal drugs, etc.).
  • Young people have information and skills to make informed decisions about drugs.
  • Informed decision making can reduce potential risks associated with drugs.
