Peer Mediation in Schools |
We are helping with the implementation of a peer mediation program for schools. At this
time, we are working with Pojoaque Valley High School, where PartySmart volunteers are assisting professional
mediation trainers Debra Oliver (Common Ground Mediation Services)
and Kathleen Oweegon (Bridges of Peace), school staff, and students. Although the number of cases mediated
up to now is still very small, even the awareness, availablity, and education about the program among
students and staff has very quickly demonstrated positive effects. Peacemaking has already become integrated
into the school culture.
